(STEP ONE – A STARTER FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE TO PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD):
All ye who enter here shall leave knowing full well the rigors and joys of America’s longest east-coast hiking path, the Appalachian Trial.
Some of it is good.
Some of it is bad.
Some of it is ugly.
There’s no room for fear though. Dive in, have fun, get lost.
Below this post you’ll find 51 journal entries that might well have been written by a raving lunatic on a long walk through the woods. But you know what they say, “genius is one small step from madness.”
“Wait a second, who’s they?”
“Err, I dunno.”
“Well if you don’t know them how do you know what they said?”
“I dunno. It’s just in me head.”
“Oh righttt…So I suppose if you hear their voice in your ‘ead, that means it’s your voice and you’re this elusive, intangible ‘they’ fellow.”
“How can I be ‘they’ or ‘them’ or whoever if I’m me?”
“I dunno you tell me….”
“How can I tell you anything about me, if I’m not me but this other bugger, this ‘they’ fellow you’re so keen on?”
(Pause)
“And who even are you?”
“We’ll that much we made clear. I’m you.”
(Silence)
“It’s just that, well…you’re talking to yourself again mate.
“…does that mean I’ve gone mad?”
“Perhaps.”
(Mulls this over. Looks up, around. Sees no one else in the woods. Nods) “Well, there’s really no one else to talk to so…what would you like to talk about?”
“You tell me.”
“Alright. Do you like riddles? Because here’s a good one: ‘Tell me a little about yourself.'”
**MY DAYS HIKING THROUGH THE WOODS GO A LITTLE BIT LIKE THAT. SCROLL DOWN. GO ON. DO IT. THERE IS A PLACE BEYOND THE REACH OF REASON.
AND SOMETIMES IT’S FUN.
