What you’re about to get into…

This blog isn’t your run-of-the-mill bulleted list of everyday events. It was never meant to be, and if it ever veers that way I’ll be the first to scrap it just to start new. Originally meant to be a journal of my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, it’s scope has widened to become something else too, something more… kaleidoscopic. Part action, part analysis, part Socratic exploration, it’s follows the spiral of my forever-growing worldview. There is no rigid plot structure because it’s about people and, therefore, has got to be able to bend, to move. And I hope, especially in our logic-driven world, it’s tinted with some pathos too.

If you do choose to read you’ll be riding shotgun as a self-professed eccentric (that’s me) tries to explore some radical ideas. The road is not straight. There are no guard rails, no yellow lines keeping you to your lane. One wrong turn and I could take us both off a cliff. But there’s really nothing for it because self-discovery requires that you trust yourself enough to take risks.

Nate! I hope you are enjoying it out there man. I spent many a summer hiking and backpacking the AT up in New Hampshire and Maine, and those were some of the best experiences of my life. I remember how beautiful and rewarding ( and painful and exhausting) those mountains can be. I absolutely love reading about your journey in the blog, so please keep it up! Best of luck on the rest of your journey!

Daniel, you’re doing something I’ve always wanted to do! So proud for you – this is such a great time to take the hike. I’ve not gotten to a place to do what you do, so I’ll be sure and keep up with you. Btw – you’ve got a gift!

Best wishes and looking forward to the next post,

Hi Nathan! It’s Negesti from Elon and that one semester of CW senior seminar we had together. Anyways, I hope you’re feeling better and getting more rest as you trek on. Sometimes your blogs pop up on my facebook feed and I read them, but now that I’m finally seeing it on a computer (and not a phone), I see that you’re including images, so I hope I’ll find the time to go back and read through your entire journey.

You’re almost there. Your writing is still killer. I’m really excited for you and wish you the best and safe travels! Thanks for taking the time to record and update us on your journey. =)

    All the best.

Glad you’re liking the blog, still experimenting with my voice and definitely missing feedback from Drew, Tita, Kevin and my eccentric peers. Sending you my best from the wilderness. Hope life is swell and the good times are rolling —
